FAQs

Do Indians need a visa for Malaysia?

No visa is required for tourism. Indian passport holders get visa-free entry for stays of up to 30 days, a policy extended through December 31, 2026 as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. Every traveler must still submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three days of arrival, along with proof of return travel and accommodation.

How much does a Malaysia trip cost from India?

A 5-to-7-day trip typically runs from around ₹35,000 per person for a budget itinerary to ₹1,20,000 or more per person for a mid-range to upper trip, before factoring in luxury stays. Flights from major Indian cities to Kuala Lumpur generally cost ₹15,000–₹30,000 round-trip on their own.

How many days do you need in Malaysia?

Seven to ten days lets you pair Kuala Lumpur with Penang or Langkawi without rushing between them. Five days is enough for Kuala Lumpur plus one nearby add-on, such as Genting or Malacca.

Is Malaysia safe to visit?

Yes, for the routes almost all tourists take — Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and Malacca see millions of trouble-free visits a year, and the US State Department rates Malaysia at its lowest risk tier overall. The one standing exception is the maritime area off eastern Sabah, from Kudat to Tawau, which carries an increased-caution advisory for kidnapping risk and is best avoided for island-hopping after dark.

Can I combine Malaysia with Singapore in one trip?

Yes — it's one of the most common combinations for Indian travelers. Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is roughly a one-hour flight, or a four-to-five-hour drive or train ride across the Johor causeway, making a split Malaysia-Singapore itinerary easy to build into a single trip.
